Is College Worth It? College used to be the Golden Ticket. Now. It is starting to look more like a golden weight that is heavier than I ever imagined. The costs keep skyrocketing like tuition’s on Red Bull, while real-world success seems to be taking a nap. Students are walking out with great degrees, but soul-crushing life long debt, and zero clue how to survive outside a campus food court.
Some families are passing student loan payments down like heirlooms. “Here, son, your great-grandfather started this loan in 1986, and now it is your turn to pay…”
Grades. well, sure, they are up. But so is the price tag, and neither seems to mean anything when it is time to find a job. Meanwhile, colleges continue to rake in billions while doing the educational equivalent of showing reruns and calling it “higher learning.”
Tucker Carlson nailed it when he said:
“Colleges barely teach, yet every year they increase their fees. Try that in a private business, you might get indicted for fraud. (I very much agree with this statement.) Do it at an American university and you get billions in taxpayer subsidies.”
It is like paying an extra mortgage payment every month just to have your professional say if you do not make a 95 on this last-minute test, you might as well drop the course because you will not pass. Do they let you stop paying for that class after you drop the class? “No, you still have to pay for the rest of the semester, just to start over with that same class the next semester. Start all over, paying for the same class just like it was a mortgage payment. At some point, you have got to ask, is the return on this “investment” really worth it?
We Ask Again, Is College Worth It?
OK… Let’s Review This:
We have all been sold the same story: go to college, study hard, get a degree, and your dream job will be waiting on the other side and you get paid more with that degree. But let us take a closer look at what is really going on behind the cap and gown.
A staggering 45{e262d5f4898826646e743977299d09a0b698570dcc000a8bfe9204dc987c46d1} of students showed no significant improvement in learning after their first two years of college. And get this, nearly 40{e262d5f4898826646e743977299d09a0b698570dcc000a8bfe9204dc987c46d1} learned absolutely nothing across all four years than what they could have learned by being out in Life. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
So… what exactly are our students doing in college?
Apparently, not studying. A solid 35{e262d5f4898826646e743977299d09a0b698570dcc000a8bfe9204dc987c46d1} of students report they are studying less than 5 hours a week. That is less than one hour a day. To put it in perspective, the same students spend twice as much time eating, shopping, and partying. What a productive use of your money.
It gets worse. Adult illiteracy is on the rise, and most college grads are below average in cognitive tasks, like figuring out grocery costs. (No shame if you have ever stood in the aisle with your calculator app open, just maybe don’t owe $80,000 in student loans while you are doing it.)
College grads in the United States are testing at or below high school students in other countries. That is right, your fancy American diploma might not even outscore a 10th grader in Singapore.
Meanwhile, top universities are lowering academic standards, but somehow average GPAs are inflating faster than a balloon at a kid’s birthday party, most are now well over 3.0. Especially at private schools, where grade inflation is off the charts. More students are technically “failing,” but given the opportunity to take the semester over again, they pass with flying colors. How is that for “everyone’s a winner”?
And let us talk money. Billions of taxpayer dollars are being funneled into these institutions that seem more focused on football teams and rock climbing walls than real education. If a private business operated this way, it would be indicted for fraud. Yet United States universities keep cashing checks and raising tuition like it is their side hustle.
So What’s the Answer?
Maybe it is not throwing tens of thousands (or more) into a system that is not producing the results we were promised. Maybe the better answer lies in a new kind of education, one that delivers real-world value, quickly, and affordably.
Instead of waiting 2, 4, or even 8 years to start earning, what if you could learn and earn within 30 to 180 days? The cost? You can start for as little as $97.
Too good to be true? Especially when you compare it to the massive debt, endless lectures, and paper-thin promises of college?
Well, how about this: it comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee. Try asking Harvard for a refund.
