Favorite Bible Verses

If you are like me, certain Bible verses speak right to your heart. Some I can save are my favorite Bible verses; they lift me up when I am down. These are my favorite Bible verses, and I wanted to share them with you. My hope is that they will encourage you, comfort you, and maybe even inspire you to dig deeper into the Word.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

This is one of those favorite Bible verses that can change the way you look at a hard day. It is a reminder that our strength does not come from our own ability but through Christ. Whenever I face something that feels too big for me, I lean on this verse and remember that nothing is impossible when God is with me. It is one of those verses that I say out loud when I need to reset my faith.

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”

This verse is the heart of the Gospel and one that most of us memorized as children. It’s simple, yet it holds the greatest truth of all, love. God’s love is unconditional and unending. John 3:16 is one of my favorite Bible verses because it reminds me that I am loved beyond measure, not because of what I have done, but because of who God is.

James 2:26 – “Faith without works is dead.”

This verse speaks to me in a deep way. It tells us that faith is not just something we talk about; it is something we live. True belief shows up in our actions. This verse pushes me to not only believe but to put that belief into motion. Whether it is helping someone in need or forgiving when it is hard, faith must be active.

Luke 14:25 – The Cost of Discipleship

Jesus never promised that following Him would be easy. In Luke 14:25, He reminds us that being a disciple means surrendering everything. It’s not about comfort; it is about commitment. This verse keeps me grounded when life tempts me to take shortcuts. It reminds me that walking with Jesus requires trust and obedience.

Matthew 6:5–13 – The Lord’s Prayer

Prayer is powerful. Jesus gave us the perfect model in this passage. When I do not know what to say, I turn to these words: “Our Father who art in heaven…” It centers me. It reminds me to forgive, to trust, and to seek God’s will. If you ever feel like your prayers aren’t enough, remember this, God looks at your heart, not your grammar.

Favorite Bible Verses

Psalm 135 – Praise the Lord!

This psalm is pure praise from beginning to end. It is one of those chapters that fills me with gratitude and awe. When I read it, I feel like shouting, “Thank You, Lord!” It reminds me that no matter what happens, God is worthy of all praise. This is why I included it in my list of favorite Bible verses, because it brings my focus back to joy.

Psalm 143:10 – “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.”

This verse is a simple prayer with powerful meaning. Every day, I need to be reminded to follow God’s will, not my own. It is so easy to get caught up in what I think is best. But this verse centers me and reminds me to be teachable, humble, and ready to listen to God’s direction.

1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us…”

We all make mistakes, but forgiveness is one of God’s greatest gifts. This verse brings such peace. It reminds me that no matter what, God’s mercy is bigger than my mess. If you ever feel weighed down by guilt, turn to this verse; it is a promise that God will forgive and restore you.

Mark 11:25 – Forgive so that you may be forgiven.

Forgiveness can be hard, but it is essential. When I hold on to resentment, it does not hurt the other person; it hurts me. As I once heard someone say, “When you don’t forgive someone, you are giving them ammunition against you.” This verse reminds me to let go and trust God to handle the rest.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”

In times of uncertainty, this verse is a shield. It reminds me that I am not walking through life alone. God is faithful. Even when I can not see how things will work out, I know He is already working behind the scenes to protect me and guide me.

1 John 4:4 – “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.”

This one always lifts my spirit! No matter how strong the opposition looks, God’s power within us is greater. It’s a verse of courage and confidence, and one I whisper to myself when fear tries to sneak in. It is one of my go-to favorite Bible verses whenever I need to be reminded of victory in Christ.

Matthew 21:22 – “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

This verse challenges me to check my faith level. Am I praying with expectation or with doubt? It reminds me that faith and prayer go hand in hand. When we truly believe, miracles happen, maybe not always the way we expect, but always according to God’s plan.

James 4:10 – “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Humility does not mean thinking less of ourselves, it means thinking of ourselves less. This verse is a gentle reminder to stay grounded. God honors humility, and when we bow before Him, He lifts us in His timing and His way.

Isaiah 55:8–9 – “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.

Sometimes life does not make sense, but that’s okay. God sees the whole picture when we only see a piece. This verse helps me rest in His wisdom, even when I do not understand His plan. His ways are higher, and that gives me peace.

Romans 8:29 – “For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.”

This verse reminds me that God is shaping me daily to look more like Jesus. Every challenge, every blessing, it is all part of His refining process. That is both comforting and humbling.

Acts 19:22 – The Mention of Erastus

This small mention of Erastus always catches my attention. It is a reminder that even lesser-known people in Scripture had a purpose. We do not all have to be in the spotlight to make an impact. Sometimes our quiet faithfulness is exactly what God uses most.

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord…

If I had to choose one verse that anchors me, it is this one. It reminds me that God’s plans are good, even when I can not see them. His promises never fail. This verse is hope in written form and deserves a top spot among my favorite Bible verses.

Psalm 30:11 – “You turned my mourning into dancing.”

What a beautiful reminder that God can take our pain and turn it into praise. Life has its seasons of sadness, but God specializes in restoration. This verse fills me with joy and faith that better days are always ahead.

A Thought to Leave You With

There is a saying I have always loved: “When God closes a door, He opens a window, but it is hell in the hallway.” It makes me laugh because it is so true! Without having Faith, I would have lost my mind years ago but thanks to my home church (Crestview Baptist Church in Midland, Texas) I have had the support to find the strength and support I need. Faith does not always feel easy, but every trial is a step toward something greater. These favorite Bible verses remind me that no matter where I am, in the hallway or on the mountain, God is with me.

I hope this page of my favorite Bible verses encourages you to keep walking in faith, to keep believing, and to trust that God’s Word will guide your every step. Take time to read them slowly, pray over them, and let them speak to you. His Word is alive, and it always meets us right where we are.
